Happy Talk

Visual updates

Here are some pics of the girls being, well, photogenic.

Osteo..what?

This is Christopher sporting his "osteostache". An osteostache is something that the second years grow for the first years' orientation. Supposively, the student's medical "powers" are directly related to the growth of their facial hair...kinda like KCOM's version of the Force (Star Wars), just more tangible.

So behind...

I know, I know, it's been quite a while since my last post!! My computer has been out of commission for a while and I just got a new processor last week. But really, that's not a good excuse. I feel like there really isn't enough exciting things that occur in my life that are post-worthy, I guess.

Well, the summer is over and Christopher has returned to school. In fact, next week is finals! No, no it hasn't been that long since you've heard from me- fourth quarter is pretty short. Which makes a nice transition from having Christopher home all the time to never having him home because of school. We'll have him home again for the week of Labor Day. It'll be the first break that we'll be staying home/not having any family down. It's kind of sad but at the same time pretty nice.

Alexis is growing every day! She's cooing, gurgling and talking up a storm. I love having these mini-conversations with her. Of course I can't understand a thing she's "saying" but she constantly changes her expression, like she's really into what she's expressing. I love how her little dimples appear when she smiles and laughs! She's starting to sleep from about 7:30/8 pm to almost 6 am...SO AWESOME!!! She's in the 50th percentile for both her weight and length. I almost feel guilty because she's such an easy baby that I take advantage of her mildness and try to get as many things done while I can when I should be paying more attention to her. I guess it's just different since I have two kids to entertain while with Kira, I gave her my undivided attention. Just one of those things to get used to with more than one child. But Alexis is an angel and such a blessing.

Kira is changing daily as well, though sometimes I don't notice until I look over at her and she's doing something I never really before comprehended. She's singing songs I never taught her, reading along with me as we look at books she's only heard a handful of times, playing dress-up with a pile of folded laundry and being so thoughtful with her sister. It's crazy to think of how much she's grown since we moved here a year ago. Sometimes, in my mind, she hasn't really changed much. But when I stop and think how my baby is going to be three in a few months, it really shocks me. She's growing up and I'd better start appreciating all of the cute and irritating moments because one day, she's not going to find me as necessary and entertaining and I'll wish that I had savored every call for mommy.

Me, well, I'm surviving. Sometimes I think, could my life be any more monotonous, and then other times I feel like I don't have enough hours in the day. I'm anxious to start attending some SAA activities again and meet all of the new move-ins (first years). I'm hoping that this year is a little less stressful for Christopher and that we can enjoy our last year here in Kirksville a little more.
